DAVIS, Calif. - For the second time in as many games, the Broncos avenged a home loss from last season, defeating UC Davis 67-47 on the road at The Pavilion, Sunday.

With the win, Leon Rice became the first Bronco head coach to win his first three games since the school became a four-year institution prior to the 1968-69 season. The Broncos' 3-0 start is also the first for Boise State since the 2003-04 season.

"I thought we played reactive during the first half. We weren't awful, but we need to play scrappy and fight for every loose ball," Rice said. "When we did that, we were able to take control of the game."

Two different road games followed similar scripts this weekend for the Broncos. After getting off to slow starts, Boise State responded with big runs to take the lead, only to relinquish it to the home team prior to halftime.

Against UC Davis, the Broncos had to overcome a 1-of-8 start from the floor. They did so, and after falling behind 14-6, Boise State put together a 17-2 run. The Broncos grabbed the lead with 6-minutes, 59-seconds remaining in the half and extended the advantage to seven points (23-16).

Boise State held the Aggies to just one field goal over a 10-minute stretch, but UC Davis responded toward the end of the half, closing on a 10-1 run to head into the break with a 26-24 edge.

But for the second-straight game, the Broncos made adjustments at halftime, reclaimed the lead and didn't let go.

The Broncos moved back in front early in the half with a 12-6 run, but the Aggies cut their deficit to one (36-35) with 11:32 left in the game. That was as close as UC Davis would get, as Boise State pushed its lead to as many as 20 points (64-24).

Four different Broncos finished with double figures, led by La'Shard Anderson who scored a game-high 18. Robert Arnold chipped in 13, and Ryan Watkins and Paul Noonan each added 11. Watkins, playing in just his third-career game, just missed a double-double after pulling down a game-high nine rebounds.

The Broncos return home next week, squaring off against Eastern Washington Wednesday (Nov. 24) at Taco Bell Arena. Tip time is scheduled for 7:05p.m.
