FORT COLLINS, Colorado -- Matt Nelson and Reggie Larry combined to score 26 of Boise State's 50 points but it wasn't enough as the Broncos (1-2) dropped a 67-50 decision to Colorado State (3-2) at Moby Arena on Monday night.
Nelson connected on 6-of-13 shots to finish with a game-high 15 points, while Larry had his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Broncos got just 13 points from senior starting guards Coby Karl, Eric Lane and Kenny Wilson.
The Broncos held Jason Smith, a projected NBA draft pick to just six points on 2-of-6 shooting, but Tyler Smith (12 points), Xavier Kilby (12 points) and Tim Denson (10 points) all scored in double figures for the Rams.
Boise State returns to action Saturday against Washington State in the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash.
