BOISE, Idaho - Greg Graham, head men’s basketball coach at Boise State University, announced today the signing of Mason Sawyer, a 5-foot-10, 175 pound point guard from West Jordan High School in West Jordan, Utah, to a National Letter of Intent.
Sawyer is currently a senior at West Jordan. During his junior season, he helped guide the Jaguars to a 16-6 overall record, while posting a record of 7-3 in league play. As a junior, he averaged 7.0 points and led the team averaging 5.3 assists per game. In addition, he shot 67 percent from 3-point range while making 63 percent of his shots from the line.
“Mason is a true point guard that can shoot the basketball very well,” Graham said. “For his size, he is a very deceiving player and plays much like Steve Nash. He’s a very smart guard that is vocal and will be a great coach on the floor. Overall, Mason makes great decisions and will be a great quarterback for our basketball team.”
Sawyer, who will join the Broncos in the fall of 2009 at the end of his senior season, is the third player signed by Graham and the Broncos during the current signing period. He will join power forward Sam Hicks from Liberty Christian High School and guard Westly Perryman from Monroe College.
