Bronco Hoops Tabbed Eighth in Preseason Poll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West released the 2012-13 Preseason Men’s Basketball Media Poll Monday, and Boise State was predicted to finish eighth.

The Broncos received 43 votes, six fewer than seventh-place Fresno State and 16 more than ninth-place Air Force.

Defending Mountain West co-regular-season champion San Diego State edged UNLV as the preseason favorite to win the MW men’s basketball regular-season title in 2012-13. The Aztecs received 10 of 18 first-place votes and 153 points to garner the top spot in the poll. The Runnin' Rebels claimed the remaining eight first-place votes and 151 points for second place.

In his first two seasons as head coach at Boise State, Leon Rice’s squads have outperformed their predicted finish.

In 2010-11, the Broncos were predicted by the media to finish sixth in the Western Athletic Conference, and the team finished second.

In 2011-12, the Broncos were predicted by the media to finish eighth in the MW, and the team finished tied for seventh.
