DENVER, Colo. – The Boise State men’s basketball team was picked fifth in the preseason media poll and seventh in the WAC coaches poll for the 2009-10 season.
The Broncos totaled 23 points in the coaches’ poll to finish behind Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Idaho, Louisiana Tech and Fresno State. The Broncos, who tied for third in the WAC last season with a 9-7 league record and 19-13 overall record, finished ahead of San Jose State and Hawai’i.
Boise State garnered 145 points in the media poll and finished behind Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico State and Idaho, and ahead of Louisiana Tech, Fresno State, San Jose State and Hawai’i in the coaches poll.
The Broncos opened practice for the 2008-09 season last Friday, with their first exhibition on Tuesday, Nov. 3, against Willamette University and their first regular season game on Friday, Nov. 13, at Montana for a three-game tournament with the other two games scheduled against Loyola Marymount and North Dakota. Boise State’s first home game of the season comes against North Texas, Saturday, Nov. 28.
