SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Boise State University senior forward Reggie Larry was named a preseason first-team All-WAC selection by both the league’s media and coaches today, while the men's basketball team was picked fifth in the WAC coaches and media poll.

Larry becomes just the second Bronco player to ever earn preseason first-team All-WAC recognition, joining Coby Karl who was selected to both teams last season.  As a junior last year, Larry averaged 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.  He scored in double figures in 26 of Boise State’s 31 games, including four games with 20 or more points.  He also grabbed double-digit rebounds 10 times with a career-high 18 against Idaho.

Matt Nelson was selected to the second team and becomes just the second Bronco player named to the preseason second team, also joining Karl who was a second-team pick before the 2005-06 season.  As a junior, Nelson averaged 13.5 points and a team-best 8.9 rebounds per game.  He scored in double figures in 23 of Boise State 31 games, including five games with 20 or more points.  Nelson grabbed double-digit rebounds 13 times and had 10 double-doubles.

The Broncos totaled 34 points in the coaches’ poll to finish behind Utah State, New Mexico State, Nevada and Fresno State.  The Broncos, who finished tied for fifth last season with an 8-8 league record and 17-14 overall record, finished ahead of Hawaii, Louisiana Tech, San Jose State and Idaho.

Boise State garnered 175 points in the media poll and finished behind the same five teams and ahead of the same four teams as in the coaches poll.

The Broncos open practice for the 2007-08 season on Friday, with their first exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 2, against Evergreen and their first regular season game on Friday, Nov. 9, against Utah Valley State.  The Broncos have four of their first regular season games at home, including one against Pac-10 opponent Washington State on Tuesday Nov. 13.
