Former Boise State men's basketball student-athlete Thomas Bropleh signed a professional contract with the Finke Baskets of the Germany ProA League, the team announced Monday. The club is located in Paderborn, Germany, located in the northwestern part of the country. ProA is the second-division league in Germany's Basketball Bundesliga.

"It's a good opportunity for me to go play and show what I can do," Bropleh said. "I'm going in there ready to work hard and contribute and see where it leads."

Bropleh caught the eye of Finke coach Uli Naechster at the Scorers First Showcase last month in Las Vegas. Naechster served as a coach at the event and made Bropleh an offer shortly after.

Bropleh mulled his options before signing with the Finke Baskets last week and it was made official Monday morning. He expects to leave for Germany during the middle of next week.

"Coach Uli liked what he saw out of me and he said he thinks I'm a player who can help," Bropleh said. "I'm excited to get over there and do just that."

A strong senior season helped position Bropleh for the opportunity to extend his playing career overseas. The Denver native averaged 19.6 minutes, 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last year. Bropleh shot 42.6 percent from three-point range as a senior, and finished the season with a flurry. He played in 128 games during his career, scoring in double figures 26 times--10 of which came in his final 14 games. During that stretch he averaged 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 made three-pointers per game.

Bropleh joins Ryan Watkins as members of the Broncos' 2014 class to sign professional contracts. Last month Watkins joined Aris Leeuwarden of the Dutch Basketball League. Paderborn is approximately 200 miles southeast of Leeuwarden.

"Ryan and I have been on the phone and texting throughout the whole process," Bropleh said. "After he got his contract, we were just waiting to see where I would end up. Now I have mine and it's official, we're both playing pro ball. It's really great not only for us as individuals and our class, but for the Boise State program."

Former Utah State forward Morgan Grim is also a member of Finke. Grim graduated from Utah State in 2012. The Broncos and Aggies faced off three times while Bropleh and Grim were members of their respective teams. The Baskets recently signed point guard Ty Nurse out of Texas Tech.
