Broncos in 2014 Las Vegas Classic Field

LAS VEGAS - Boise State men’s basketball will take part in the 2014 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic, the tournament announced Friday. The Broncos will play four games as part of the event, two home games followed by two games Dec. 22 and 23, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Boise State will take on Houston Dec.22 (Monday), in the Broncos’ first game in Las Vegas. It is the last of four games on the day with tipoff slated for 7:30 p.m. PT. The following day, Boise State will take on either Texas Tech or Loyola University Chicago. The winners of each Monday game will play each other, as will the losers.

The championship game is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. PT. The third-place game will begin at 6 p.m. PT. Both games on the second day will be televised by FOX Sports 1.

The Broncos will host Southern Utah and Abilene Christian in the first two games of the event. Dates and times will be announced with the rest of Boise State’s nonconference schedule.

Southern Utah and Abilene Christian will also compete at the Orleans Arena, joined by South Carolina State and Arkansas Pine Bluff for the early games on Dec. 22 and 23.

The 2014 edition marks the seventh Las Vegas Classic. A Mountain West team has won the tournament three of the last four years. New Mexico claimed the title in 2010, Colorado State in 2012 and UNLV last season.
