MW Releases Broncos’ Path to Title Defense
June 24, 2015

Boise State’s 18-game Mountain West men’s basketball schedule for 2015-16 was revealed Wednesday, by the conference. The Broncos will open their MW title defense at home against Colorado State.

The dates of each game are still subject to change as games can move from Wednesday to Tuesday and Saturday to Sunday, based on television selections. Beginning July 1, Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports Network and ESPN will begin their selection procedures. Picks by ROOT Sports and Campus Insiders will follow shortly thereafter. Last season, the full TV schedule was released in September.

The conference slate is not a full double round-robin as each of the 11 schools’ schedules feature eight home-and-home series along with one additional home game and one additional road game. The Broncos’ one-time opponents for 2015-16 are Air Force and Fresno State with the Falcons avoiding a visit to Taco Bell Arena and the Bulldogs not playing host to Boise State.

The Mountain West schedule begins Dec. 29 or 30, with Boise State one of three teams on a bye. The Broncos will play 14 games before earning their second bye. Last season, Boise State had both off days in January before playing 10-consecutive games to end the regular season. The Broncos won nine of those 10 games to clinch a share of the regular-season title and the top seed in the conference tournament.

Boise State will stay close to home for the first six games of the year. Four of the first six games will be at Taco Bell Arena, and the Broncos will be traveling to the nearest conference opponents for the other two with games at Utah State and Nevada.

The two meetings between last year’s regular-season co-champions Boise State and San Diego State are slated for Jan. 15 or 16 (in Boise), and Feb. 27 or 28 (in San Diego). The Broncos swept the series last season.

The final home game of the regular season will be March 1 or 2, against Nevada. It is the second time in three years the Broncos will host the Wolfpack on senior day. The regular-season finale will take place March 5, at San Jose State.

The Broncos’ nonconference schedule is nearing completion and will be released in the coming weeks.
