BOISE, Idaho - Boise State rising senior Anthony Drmic will participate in the Australian Boomers training camp beginning Friday, at the Western Australian Basketball Centre. Drmic was selected to the 14-man camp earlier this month and is vying for a spot on the 12-man roster for the Sino-Australia Challenge. It is also the next step in earning an invitation to join Team Australia at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

If Drmic is selected to the Sino-Australia Challenge team, he will compete in the four-game series beginning May 29 and 31 in Perth, Australia, and concluding with two games in Jiangsu, China, June 6 and 8. Boise State teammate and classmate Igor Hadziomerovic participated in the Sino-Australia Challenge last summer as a member of the Boomers.

The 2014 Basketball World Cup takes place Aug. 30 through Sept. 14, in Spain. The Australian side has been Group D for the preliminary round and will play in Gran Canaria in the preliminary stage. The Boomers will be joined by Angola, Korea, Lithuania, Mexico and Slovenia.

A handful of national team veterans are not among the group of 14 in the camp beginning this week, though are all but assured a spot in the World Cup selection camp which will take place in July. According to Boomers head coach Andrej Lemanis, there are 16 spots available for the World Cup selection camp. Six to eight of those positions are expected to be claimed by members of the Boomers roster during the Sino-Australia Challenge.
