KARL MAKES HIMSELF ELIGIBLE FOR JUNE'S NBA DRAFT; WON'T HIRE AN AGENT SO HE CAN WITHDRAWAL BEFORE JUNE 18
BOISE, Idaho Coby Karl has officially made himself eligible for the NBA Draft on June 29th in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Karl will not hire an agent and as a result has the option to withdrawal before the deadline on June 18th.

By declaring for the draft, Karl will have the opportunity to workout for NBA teams and can attend the Orlando Camp if he is invited.

“It’s a good opportunity to improve and be seen,” Karl said on Wednesday. “I fully intend to come back (to Boise State) next year.”

Karl filed the paperwork last week before the April 29th deadline. As a junior he was named second-team All-WAC after leading the Broncos in scoring (17.2 ppg) and assists (4.0 apg). He is one of three Western Athletic Conference players to declare for early entry in the draft. He joins Nevada’s Nick Fazekas and Louisiana Tech’s Paul Millsap.

“I think it is a great opportunity for Coby,” Boise State head coach Greg Graham said. “The way the system is set up he can test the waters and still come back since he isn’t going to hire an agent.”

“With his background, Coby really knows how the system works,” Graham continued. “He can go through the process this year and if it works out great for him. If not he will be prepared all the better when he goes through it again next year.”
