Drmic Named to Boomers Squad
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State freshman guard/forward Anthony Drmic was named to the Australian Boomers squad Tuesday, the first step towards making the Australian Olympic Team.

The 25-man Boomers squad will be reduced to a team of 12 individuals that will represent Australia in London at the 2012 Olympics, beginning July 29.

“It’s exciting that Anthony has an opportunity to represent his nation in the Olympics,” Boise State head coach Leon Rice said. “It’s an honor for our program to have one of our players represent Boise State and his country at the pinnacle of international competition.”

The process will begin in Perth, Australia, June 3, with the first of three camps.

“We have identified these players, worked with these players and watched their growth over the past four years,” Boomers coach, and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, Brett Brown said. “The large majority of this squad has participated in several camps, tours and world events during my time as coach, and now each of them has an opportunity to take it one final step and represent Australia at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“This invitation is a tremendous honor and is a result of years of hard work and dedication.”
