April 21, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men’s basketball signed Cameron Christon to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Leon Rice announced Friday. Christon is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard from Allen, Texas.

Christon led Allen High School to a school-record 29 wins as a senior, advancing to the 6A regional semifinals. Individually, he brought home District 6 Offensive Player of the Year honors after averaging 15.3 points to go with seven rebounds per game.

The Eagles finished second in District 6-6A, then Christon got hot in the playoffs and Allen made a charge at the state tournament. The future Bronco averaged more than 20 points over his final three games, including 25 in a win over the state’s second-ranked team and 27 in the regional semifinal.

After earning honorable mention all-district acclaim as a junior, Christon began his breakout senior year by being named to the Texas Invitational All-Tournament Team, leading Allen to a second-place finish at the prestigious event. The previous year’s Texas Invitational saw current Bronco Alex Hobbs rise to prominence. Hobbs set the tournament records for points in a single game (50) and a tournament (189).

Thus far, Boise State’s 2017 signing class consists of Christon, Casdon Jardine and Christian Sengfelder. Jardine will enroll as a sophomore, Sengfelder a senior and Christon a true freshman. Derrick Alston, who redshirted with the Broncos last season, will also be a freshman in 2017-18.
