Boise State hired Leon Rice as its new head coach on March 26.  Rice was a member of the coaching staff at Gonzaga University for 11 years, serving as the associate head coach since 2007.

Rice has hired an impressive group of assistant coaches in the past couple weeks.  They include Dave Wojcik as the Broncos' associate head coach, and Jeff Linder and Shaun Vandiver as assistants.

Wojcik was an assistant at Wake Forest University, while Linder comes to Boise State after serving as an assistant at the University of San Francisco and Vandiver joins the Bronco staff following five years as an assistant at the University of Wyoming.

Rice has signed two players to National Letters of Intent since taking over the program - Tre' Nichols from McLennan Community (Texas) College and Thomas Bropleh from New Hampton Prep School in New Hampshire.

Nichols, a 6-foot point guard from Killen, Texas, averaged 16 points, five assists and three steals per game last year in leading McLennan to a 26-4 record and the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Championship.  In high school he averaged 20 points, five assists and four steals at Kileen High School.

As a senior at George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado during the 2008-09 season, Bropleh led the team to a 26-2 record while averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds per game.  A 6-foot-5 small forward, Bropleh attended New Hampton Prep last season averaging 16 points and seven rebounds per game.
