Boise State to Face Aggies

LAS VEGAS – No. 2 seed Boise State will face No. 7 seed Utah State tomorrow evening in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championships, as the Aggies took down No. 10 seed Colorado State by a score of 76-65 Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas & Mack Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT and will broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

The Broncos (23-7) split with Utah State (16-16) in the regular season. Boise State won the first matchup in Taco Bell Arena (Jan. 17), 71-67, but fell on the road at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Feb. 10, 71-65.

The two teams have never met at the Mountain West Championships. The last meeting between the Broncos and Aggies at a conference championship came at the 2011 WAC Tournament with then No. 23 Utah State claiming the 77-69 win in the championship game.

The Blue and Orange trail in the all-time series 31-15.

Chandler Hutchison is averaging 22.0 points per game in the two contests so far this season against the Aggies. Lexus Williams has also fared well in the two matchups, averaging 13.0 points.

This will also be Boise State’s first matchup against a No. 7 seed at the MW Championships in program history.
