BOISE, Idaho - Newcomer Daequon Montreal not only made an immediate impact on the Boise State men's basketball team, but has left an impression on the league as he was named to one of the Western Athletic Conference's all-league teams, Sunday.
Montreal (Syracuse, N,Y./College of Southern Idaho) earned a spot on the WAC's All-Newcomer team after averaging 10.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. This season, he saw action in all 31 games, while starting in 13, and has recorded 18 double-digit games, including two games with 20 or more points. Montreal finished the season ranked among the league's leaders in offensive rebounds (eighth) and blocks (tied 14th). In addition to his newcomer honors, the junior was named an All-WAC Honorable Mention. Montreal is the fourth Boise State player to be named to the All-Newcomer team, joining Aaron Haynes (2003), Reggie Larry and Matt Nelson (2007).
