BOISE, Idaho Following its triple overtime win Saturday (March 15) night to capture the Western Athletic Conference Championship, the Boise State University men’s basketball team will now face the University of Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.  The Broncos will face the Cardinals this Friday (March 21) in Birmingham, Alabama in the second game of the evening session.  The first game of that session, Oklahoma vs. St. Joseph's, will start at 6:10 p.m. (CT).

 This will be Boise State’s fifth trip to the NCAA National Tournament, and it’s first since 1994 when it also played Louisville.  The Broncos, who have lost their previous NCAA tournament games, lost to Louisville, 67-58.

Boise State’s other tournament results include a 103-78 loss to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1976; the University of Michigan in 1988, 63-58; and Vanderbilt University, 92-72, in 1993. 

Seeded No. 3 in the East bracket, Louisville has an overall record of 24-8.  Boise State is the No. 14 seed in the region and has a school record 25-8.

Tickets for the game will go on sale Monday (March 17) beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the athletic ticket office.  The ticket office is located at the south end of Bronco Stadium.

            The ticket order process will be done in a priority manner beginning with season ticket holders who are BAA members, and Taco Bell Arena Lifetime members.  They will have from 8:00 a.m. till Noon to purchase their tickets.  Men’s basketball season ticket holders who sit in non-priority sections, and Boise State students, will be allowed to purchase tickets from Noon until 2:00 p.m.

            Season ticket holders may purchase the same number of tickets they currently hold for the regular season. 

From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the general public will be allowed to purchase with a limit of four tickets per person.

            The cost of each ticket is $53.00, and will only be for the session Boise State is playing. 

            Tickets will not be available in Boise.  All tickets must be picked up at the arena in Birmingham with a photo ID and credit card.  Dates and times for the pickup will be e-mailed to purchasers. 

            If Boise State advances to the second round, those purchasing first round tickets will automatically be charged for the second round tickets.
