Last Second Jumper Lifts Fresno State Over Boise State 78-77

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) Kevin Bell's pull up jumper with 0.6 seconds left Thursday night lifted Fresno State to a 78-77 victory over Boise State.

Quinton Hosley had a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for Fresno State (21-8, 9-6), which extended its winning streak to five games.

With Boise State leading 77-76, Anthony Thomas missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 6.8 seconds left. Bell grabbed the long rebound and dribbled to just inside the free-throw line before taking the shot.

Bell scored a season-high 17 points along with 11 assists and three steals. Dominic McGuire added 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Bulldogs.

Boise State (16-12, 8-7) led 77-70 with less than 4 minutes remaining before Hosley and Bell fueled Fresno State's late surge with four points apiece.

Matt Nelson had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Broncos, including a layup with 4:59 left that turned out to be Boise State's final points of the contest. Reggie Larry added 19 points and Eric Lane had 17.

Fresno State shot 49.1 percent from the field compared to 40.0 percent for the Broncos. The Bulldogs lead the WAC in scoring defense while limiting opponents to 38.2 percent shooting.

Boise State led 53-46 early in the second half before Fresno State rallied to take a 66-62 lead with 10:34 left. The Broncos then built another seven-point advantage before going cold in the game's final minutes.

Nelson had 13 first-half points and Larry added 10 for Boise State, which led 47-40 at halftime.

Lane helped put Boise State in front early by making three 3-pointers in the game's first 8 minutes. He finished 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Bell had 11 first-half points and four assists for Fresno State, which meets Utah State on Saturday in Logan, Utah, for third place in the WAC behind Nevada and New Mexico State.
