Broncos Host CSU Bakersfield for Senior Night
The Boise State men’s basketball team will close out its regular season at home this week, playing host to CSU Bakersfield Wednesday (March 2) and San Jose State Saturday (March 5).
The Broncos (17-11, 9-6 WAC) and Roadrunners (9-17) are slated to tip-off at Taco Bell Arena at 7:05 p.m., and the team will honor its seven seniors as part of Senior Night.
Boise State will square off against the Spartans (15-12, 5-9 WAC) at 7:05 p.m., in the team’s final regular-season match-up of 2010-11.
The Broncos will honor seniors La’Shard Anderson, Robert Arnold, Sean Imadiyi, Daequon Montreal, Zach Moritz, Paul Noonan and Justin Salzwedel in a ceremony prior to the game against the Roadrunners.
Boise State and CSU Bakersfield have squared off three times, once in each of the last three seasons. All three games have resulted in Bronco victories, including two at Taco Bell Arena.
The Broncos have won five-consecutive games and have climbed into sole possession of second place in the WAC standings.
CSU Bakersfield has lost six-straight overall, and eight-consecutive games on the road. The Roadrunners are 2-9 on the road this season.
The Broncos swept their road trip last week, knocking off Fresno State (70-56) and Nevada (72-66) to climb from fourth to second in the conference standings.
The Broncos went 5-2 during the month of February, the team’s best record during the month since going 6-2 during 2007-08.
ANDERSON SINGLE-SEASON MARKS
La’Shard Anderson has 431 points in 2010-11 - the 50th 400-point season in school history and tied for the 39th most by a Bronco in a single season. Anderson also has 136 assists and 70 steals. Each total ranks fifth in Boise State single-season history.
The Broncos posted two road sweeps during the conference portion of their 2010-11 season, the first time since 1998-99 - when the team was in the Big West - that Boise State accomplished the feat.
Senior guard La’Shard Anderson entered this week ranked 11th in the country in steals, averaging 2.5 per game.
BRONCOS AMONGST NATION’S BEST
Boise State entered this week ranked second in the nation in turnover margin, forcing 5.7 more turnovers per game than committing. The Broncos also ranked 14th in steals, averaging 9.0 per game.
Bob Behler is in his third season as the “Voice of the Broncos,” and his 25th calling college basketball games. Joining Behler, and also in his third season, is former Bronco Abe Jackson, who played for Boise State from 1998-2002.
All Bronco games will be broadcast on the Bronco Radio Network, with KBOI 670 AM serving as the flagship station. Games can also be heard live at broncosports.com.
