Broncos Hit the Road to Battle Bulldogs

The Boise State men’s basketball team takes to the road in their final conference road trip of the season as they make their way to Louisiana Tech to face the Bulldogs, Thursday, Feb. 25, with a tip time scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (MT).

The Broncos have struggled on the road this season as they are just 3-8 when away from their home court. In fact, Boise State is just 1-5 in conference road games, with its only win coming in a 77-67 overtime victory at in-state rival, Idaho. La Tech is currently on a two-game winning streak over the Broncos, and a loss to the Bulldogs would mark the first itme Boise State lost three straight to LT since the 2005-06 season.

It has always been a tough road trip for the Broncos as they are just 4-6 all-time in games played at Louisiana Tech. In fact, the Bulldogs have lost just one game at Thomas Assembly Center this season, owning a record of 10-1 on the season. The only game La Tech has lost at home came Jan. 30, when the Bulldogs fell 77-91 to New Mexico State, who is currenlty the second place team in the Western Athletic Conference.

However, the one thing that seems to be in Boise State’s favor entering Thursday night’s game is that Louisiana Tech has been trading off wins and losses the last eight games, and after beating Northeastern in an ESPN BracketBuster game, the Bulldogs are due for a loss if the streak were to continue.

About Louisiana Tech...

For the first time since 1991, Tech received votes in the AP poll. Later, they received votes in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.

Kyle Gibson scored a career-high 32 points with a career-best seven three’s against Fresno State, it was the most points scored by a Bulldog since Trey McDowell scored 33 against New Mexico State in 2007.

The 13 non-conference wins is the most NCAA Division I non-conference wins for Tech since recording 12 in 1989.

LA Tech’s double-overtime win over Centenary was the fi rst double-overtime game for Tech since Feb. 5, 2004 at Fresno State.

Its 102 points scored in a 102-96 win over Centenary was the most points scored by a Bulldog team since 2001 in a 102-86 win over Harding. That was also the last 100 point game.

Its 19-4 start is the best start to a season since the 1984-85 season.

The Bulldogs are outrebounding their opponents by 4.2 rebounds per game (37.6-33.5). Only nine times has Tech gotten less rebounds than their opponent, six of those resulted in a loss as they are 3-6 in that situation. They are 18-0 when outrebounding the other team.
