BOISE, Idaho – Boise State forward Chris Sengfelder was named a CoSIDA First-Team All-Academic District 7 Men’s Basketball selection, the organization announced Thursday. The accolade recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.

Sengfelder – a graduate transfer from Fordham – has made a substantial impact in his lone season with the Broncos. Sporting a 3.93 GPA as a graduate pursuing a master’s degree in kinesiology at Boise State, the Leverkusen, Germany, native also excelled in the classroom at Fordham, finishing up with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a 3.80 GPA, taking just three years to graduate.

The 6-foot 9-inch forward has been exceptional for the Broncos on the court all year, as he is third on the team in points (11.5 ppg) and second in rebounds (6.5 rpg). Sengfelder has improved significantly as the year has progressed as he is now averaging 14.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in his last nine contests.

He also was named a CoSIDA All-Academic District 1 First-Team Men’s Basketball selection last season as a junior with Fordham.

Sengfelder has started in all 121 games of his college career and currently has 1,382 career points. He also leads the team’s regular rotation players in cumulative plus-minus, as the Broncos are +13.72 points per 40 minutes when he is on the floor.

He has recorded a double-digit scoring average in all four of his collegiate seasons and tallied nine career double-doubles – three of which have come this season.
