Broncos Break From WAC Play to Host Cal State Bakersfield

The Boise State men's basketball team will take a break from conference play as they host Cal State Bakersfield, Wednesday, in a late season nonconference game. The women will start things off against in-state rival, Idaho, at 6:05 p.m., at Taco Bell Arena. Following the conclusion of the women's game, the men will take the court to take on the Roadrunners at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Fans planning to attend Wednesday's double-header can take advantage of an amazing deal. You can get a $5 ticket to both games if the ticket is purchased prior to halftime of the women's game. Tickets for Wednesday's competition will be reserved seating.

The Broncos are a perfect 2-0 all-time against the Roadrunners as they have posted a win over Bakersfield the last two seasons. In fact, this week's match-up marks the third consecutive season in which the two schools have met up. Boise State has beaten out CSUB by an average of 18.5 points, but posted a 33-point victory over the runners the last time they visited Boise.

The CSUB men's basketball team overcame a shaky start then never trailed in the second half en route to an 82-79 win at Idaho State Monday night in Reed Gym ...The win was the 100th career victory for CSUB Head Coach Keith Brown, and his 59th at the Roadrunner helm.

Santwon Latunde's rebounding and Trent Blakley's scoring aren't the only 'Runner marks to crack the NCAA Division I Independent top 10 lists this season. Blakley ranks No. 2 in three-pointers made per game (2.0) and No. 6 in field goals per game (5.2). Stephon Carter (Garces HS) checks in at No. 3 in free throws per game (5.0) and No. 4 in steals per game (1.6).

Trent Blakley is climbing his way up CSUB's career records lists in more than just scoring and starts. He is third all-time in three-point field goals with 139. Last week, he passed Fred Eckles for fourth in field goals made (439). He also ranks in the top 10 all-time in rebounding (No. 6, 522) and games played (No. 6, 107).

Freshman Stephon Carter is breaking a lot of ground in his first collegiate season. On Jan. 12 at Southern Mississippi, he just missed a milestone when he scored a season-high 25 points against the Golden Eagles. His mark was just two points shy of Kenny Warren's school freshman record of 27 set against Northern Colorado in the 1991 season.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Paul Noonan scored 17 points in the second half as Boise State overcame a two-point halftime deficit to claim a 66-62 win over Cal State Bakersfield ... Noonan, who had three points in two minutes of action during the first period, nailed his third triple of the game at the 10:17 mark of the second half to give the Broncos their first lead of the second half, 48-46 ...Bakersfield took its last lead on a dunk by Donavan Bragg at the 3:50 mark. The Broncos, however, were able to stretch their advantage back to as many as five down the stretch ... Ike Okoye had 14 points for Boise, while Mark Snachez chipped in 10 ... Terrence Johns led the Roadrunners with 14 points, while Alex Johnson had 13 and Trent Blakely had 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds ... Bakersfield jumped out to a 13-7 lead to start the game and never trailed by more than two in the first half before taking a 29-27 advantage into the half.
