Aggies' Hot Shooting Downs Broncos

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State had its best shooting performance of the season, and the No. 22/21 Aggies defeated Boise State 77-49 Saturday at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
 
The Broncos dropped to 12-11 overall and 5-6 in the Western Athletic Conference, and the Aggies (22-2, 11-0 WAC) extended the third-longest active winning streak in the country to 17 games. Utah State has also won 28-straight games at home.
 
Utah State shot 27-of-42 (.642) from the floor, and the Broncos had their second-worst shooting performance of the season, going 19-of-56 (.339).
 
Boise State struck first, but Tai Wesley scored six-straight, keying the beginning of a 17-2 Aggie run. Utah State missed just one of its first nine attempts from the floor, and the Aggies nailed 14-of-21 from the field in the first half (.667).
 
The Broncos went 8-of-26 (.308) at the other end of the floor, and fell behind 43-21 heading into intermission.
 
The Aggies pushed their lead to as many as 34 in the second half, and held on for the win. Wesley led the way with 22 points.

Robert Arnold came off the bench to lead Boise State with 12 points. Ryan Watkins pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and added 11 points.
 
The Broncos return home next week, hosting Fresno State (Feb. 10) and Idaho (Feb. 12).
