BRONCOS IN THE RPI: Boise State is ranked 64th in the  latest RPI (Jan. 13). Boise State finished last season No. 48 in the RPI. That was the highest finish for Boise State since ranking No. 47 at the end of the 1987-88 season, according to Basketball State.

DUNCAN A QUICK STUDY: Freshman Nick Duncan is adapting to life in the United States as well as life in the paint. Duncan, from Sydney, Australia, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in his first semester. His book smarts have carried over to the hardwood where he is learning to play inside. Duncan grabbed a career-high five rebounds against Iowa State (Dec. 25), and proceeded to match that number in three of the next four games. He has 23 rebounds in the last five games after recording 18 in the first 12 games. He has made 18 three-point field goals this season and nine from inside the arc. Four of his two-point shots have also come during the past five games.

NIGHT IN AND NIGHT OUT: Ryan Watkins has at least 10 rebounds in nine of the first 17 games. Included was a streak of five-straight (Nov. 23-Dec. 5), the first Bronco to record such a streak since Matt Nelson also had a streak of five-consecutive double-figure rebound games during the 2006-07 season (Jan. 20-Feb. 3). During MW play, Watkins has had double-figure rebounds in three of the four games and at least nine in all four contests. He is averaging 11.8 rebounds per game in conference, No. 2 in the league.
