Hutchison Garners MW Honor
Jan. 15, 2018

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State guard Chandler Hutchison was named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Jan. 8 to Sunday, Jan. 14, the conference announced Monday. Hutchison has earned the weekly honor three times this season - more than any other player in the conference.

The senior put forth one of the best individual performances in program history last Saturday night in scoring a single-game school record 44 points to go with eight rebounds, leading the Broncos to the 83-80 victory over San Diego State.

Hutchison scored 25 of his 44 points in the first half - the most points in a half by a Boise State player since Derrick Marks scored 26 points in the second half against Colorado State (Jan. 27, 2015). He scored the team's first 16 points of the game, as well.

The Mission Viejo, Calif., native scored eight points in the final five minutes of the game and made two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to give Boise State the three-point lead at 83-80, forcing San Diego State to take two contested threes in the waning seconds.

The 44 points ties for the second-highest single-game point total from an individual in NCAA Division I this season. The last Bronco to score 40 points in a game was Carl Powell (Feb. 8, 1979).

His 15 made field goals, seven made 3-pointers and 10 3-point attempts Saturday night were all career highs, as well.

He was also sensational last Tuesday at Fresno State, securing his eighth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds, along with a team-high four assists. Now with 19 career double-doubles, Hutchison is tied for third place in Bronco history for career double-doubles.

The performance also gave him his sixth 20-point, 10-rebound game of the season, tying his total from the 2016-17 season and bringing his career total to 12, further strengthening his No. 1 spot in the school record book.

In addition, the win at Fresno State made Hutchison just the 11th player in Boise State history to win a conference road game at every league venue in his career. John Coker (1992-95) was the last to accomplish the feat, which had not been done since Boise State was in the Big Sky. Hutchison is the sixth four-year Bronco to accomplish the feat.

The senior now has 1,195 career points, putting him in 12th place in the school's all-time scoring list.

Hutchison also received national recognition Monday, as Andy Katz, Dick Vitale and College Sports Madness all pointed out his 44-point game.

Boise State will host Utah State, Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. back at Taco Bell Arena.
