HONOLULU (AP) - Anthony Drmic hit a 3-pointer from the left wing with 59 seconds remaining to help Boise State hold off Hawai'i 62-61 in a late quarterfinal of the Diamond Head Classic Sunday, at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Drmic scored 21 points and made three of the Broncos' (9-2) nine 3-pointers. They shot 50 percent (9 of 18) from behind the arc.

Brandon Spearman scored 17 points, Keith Shamburger 13 and Isaac Fotu 12 to lead the Rainbow Warriors (7-3).

Drmic picked up his fourth foul with 13:36 to play and spent the next 10 minutes on the bench. At the time, he had 18 points and the rest of the Broncos had combined for 20 points. Derrick Marks then stepped up and scored the next six Bronco points and assisted on two more baskets before Drmic made his return at the 3:48 mark.

Jeff Elorriaga hit his third triple of the night with 3:04 left to break a tie and put Boise State up 59-56. Quincy Smith's 3-point play with 1:37 to play tied it at 59 and Shamburger added a free throw to give Hawai'i a one-point lead before Drmic hit the eventual game-winner.

The Broncos snapped a two-game losing streak and advanced to Monday's semifinal round, where they will play South Carolina at 7 p.m. (MT) on ESPN2. The Rainbow Warriors, who had won their last five games, will play Saint Mary's in a consolation game.

Drmic's 21 points gave him 1,101 for his career and moved him from 16th to 12th on Boise State's all-time scoring list.

Marks led Boise State with a season-high seven assists. The Broncos had 17 assists as a team, their most since recording 18 in each of the first two games of the season. 17 assists is more than the Broncos had in their previous two games combined.

Boise State trailed 32-31 at halftime, the third consecutive-game the Broncos have been behind going into the locker room. They are now 1-2 on the year in such games and 13-31 during Leon Rice's four years at the helm.
