Second-Half Surge Paces Bronco Win

BOISE, Idaho- Boise State used a resounding second-half effort to run away from Idaho State 82-59 Sunday, at Taco Bell Arena. The Broncos (6-4) outscored the Bengals (3-9) 45-26 in the second period, leading by as many as 30.

Boise State led 37-33 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 20-4 run. After four ties and eight lead changes in the first half, the Broncos did not allow Idaho State to score more than two unanswered points for the first 19 minutes of the second half.

Boise State (6-4) committed nine first-half turnovers but led 37-33 at the break but Hutchinson made a layup and a jumper in the first 69 seconds of the second half and his jumper with 12:46 to play capped a 22-4 run and made it 57-37. Idaho State went nearly six minutes without a field goal during that stretch.

Chandler Hutchison finished with a team-high 16 points, including 14 in the second half. Hutchison was 7-for-9 from the floor in the second period.

Nick Duncan scored 15 points, shooting 4-for-8 from three-point range. All 15 of Duncan's points came in the first half, contributing more than 40 percent of Boise State's scoring output in the period.

David Wacker came off the bench to score nine points and tie for game-high rebounding honors with eight in 17 minutes. Wacker's season-high nine points came on 4-of-4 shooting from the field.

Boise State will host Cal State Northridge Wednesday (Dec. 21), in its nonconference finale. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MT at Taco Bell Arena.
