SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Chandler Hutchison had a career-high 34 points, Marcus Dickinson scored 10 of his career-best 12 points in the final 12 minutes and Boise State overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat Utah 73-68 on Tuesday night in an opening-round game of the NIT.

Zach Haney had five of his seven points, five rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in the second half. The Broncos (20-11), seeded sixth in their bracket, will play No. 2 seed Illinois in the second round.

Boise State clinched its fifth straight 20-win season, one of 27 schools nationally to do so. This is the 13th 20-win season since Boise State became a four-year institution and the sixth in Leon Rice's seven seasons as head coach.which has won at least 20 games in each of the last five seasons.

Kyle Kuzma's layup with 17:39 to play gave third-seeded Utah (20-12) 47-36 lead, which matched its biggest of the game. Hutchison answered with a 3-pointer that sparked a 7-0 spurt and back-to-back layups by Dickinson trimmed Boise State's deficit to one with 10:35 remaining. A bucket by Kuzma made it 61-56 nearly four minutes later, but Utah missed its next nine, and 14 of its next 15 shots. Hutchison sandwiched a pair of layups around a 3 by Dickinson to give the Broncos their first lead, 63-61, with 4:06 left and spark a 16-1 run that made it 72-61 with 45 seconds left.

Kuzma had 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for Utah. David Collette scored 15 and grabbed a career-high 11 boards.
