Boise State Rolls Past San Jose State, 86-36

Montigo Alford added a season-best 14 points as the Broncos (13-6, 3-3) recorded their third straight victory. The 50-point margin was the second largest in a conference game in Mountain West history.
Rashad Muhammad scored 13 points for San Jose State (2-17, 0-7), which lost its ninth straight game. The Spartans had nearly twice as many turnovers (20) as field goals (11) and shot just 25 percent from the field.
Boise State rolled off 16 straight points, over nearly four minutes, in the first half to open up a 24-point lead. Marks scored 14 in the first half and knocked down a 3-pointer with four seconds left in the half to give the Broncos a 45-17 advantage.
Boise State had a 31-2 edge in points off turnovers.
Spartans coach Dave Wojcik spent three seasons as an assistant under Boise State coach Leon Rice before becoming San Jose State's coach in 2013.
But Rice sure didn't take it easy on his former assistant.
Boise State scored nine of the game's first 10 points and the Spartans didn't make their first field goal until the 5:19 mark.
San Jose State trailed 17-5 less than eight minutes into the contest. Muhammad and Isaac Thornton each hit 3-pointers to get San Jose State within 19-11 before the Broncos went on a 16-0 surge.
The burst was capped by a ferocious drunk by James Webb III and he followed up with two strong defensive plays.
San Jose State committed 13 turnovers in the half and was just 4 of 17 from the field.
In the second half, Nick Duncan's 3-pointer pushed the Broncos' lead to 50-19 and a short time later, Marks and Duncan each hit 3-pointers during a 12-0 surge.
The lead topped out at 79-28 on a 3-pointer by Dezmyn Trent with six minutes remaining as Boise State finished off its sixth consecutive victory over the Spartans.
San Jose State: Athletic director Gene Bleymaier, who was hired in May of 2012, served in the same position at Boise State for 30 years. . In San Jose State's previous game against Boise State in last season's Mountain West tournament, the Spartans fell behind 25-0 and lost 83-52. . Rashad Muhammad made one 3-point basket and has 106 in his career, six behind 10th-place D.J. Brown (from 2011-14) in school history.
Boise State: James Webb III missed his second 3-point shot attempt, snapping a streak of eight consecutive makes that began with a 7 of 7 effort against New Mexico on Sunday. . The Broncos were 11 of 25 from 3-point range and have made 10 or more in four of the last five games. . Boise State leads the all-time series 25-2.
San Jose State hosts Air Force on Jan. 28.
