First Season

David Moats recently completed his first season as director of operations with Boise State men's basketball. Moats was hired June 5, 2017, following three seasons in the same position at Weber State.

At Boise State, Moats has been and will continue to be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, travel and equipment arrangements.

Moats and the Broncos recently went 23-9 in 2018 and were selected to the NIT for the team’s eighth postseason appearance in program history. The 23 wins also tied for the fourth-most wins in program history, as well.

"David comes from a championship-level program that we have a lot of respect for," said Rice. "He brings a wealth of experience at this position and will be a great addition."

During his three seasons on staff the Wildcats advanced to the postseason twice, including the 2016 NCAA Tournament. At Weber State, he assisted with all areas of the program including travel and scheduling.

Prior to Weber State, Moats was a graduate assistant coach at Florida. He worked with the Gators during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, including a Final Four run his final season. Moats earned his master's degree in sports management in 2014 from Florida.

A native of Guernsey, Wyo., Moats played basketball for two seasons at Northwest Junior College in Powell, Wyo. His coaching career began immediately after his playing career, serving as a student assistant coach at Wyoming while finishing his undergraduate studies. Moats graduated from Wyoming in 2012 with a degree in kinesiology.
