INDIANAPOLIS –
Boise State cross country’s Emily Venters will represent the United States and compete at the 2018 Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge, USA Track & Field announced Thursday.

Venters will compete for the junior women’s team, Jan. 13, 2018, at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 6-kilometer race. The freshman will be one of three collegians competing with the junior women’s team as Team USATF looks to defend their team title from last season.

Venters is the fifth Bronco to compete at the Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge. Emma Bates, Andrew Rafla and Michael Vennard competed at the 2015, while then signee Elijah Armstrong also represented the United States.

A native of Lawrence, Kan., Venters just wrapped up a successful freshman season for Boise State. Venters steadily improved throughout the season to earn First-team All-MW honors, All-West Region honors, and ultimately finished 53rd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships as the team’s No. 2 runner. Venters was the third freshmen to cross the finish line at the national championships.
