Broncos Rank Second, Third Headed into MW Championships

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women’s cross country team was picked to place second, while the men were picked to finish third in the 2013 Mountain West Cross Country Coaches’ Pre-Championship poll released Tuesday.

The Bronco women hold tight to the No. 2 spot, a place they sat in during the MW Preseason Poll and both MW Midseason polls. They total 89-points and two first-place votes in the most recent poll.

The Bronco men fall back one spot to No. 3 in the MW Pre-Championship poll after tying for the No. 2 spot in the most recent MW Midseason poll. The men totaled 36-points in this week’s poll.

New Mexico leads both the men’s and women’s MW Pre-Championship polls, totaling 47-points and 99-points respectively. Both teams rank No. 9 in the nation and earned five first-place votes on the men’s side and nine on the women’s side. The Lobo women have won five consecutive MW Cross Country Championships, while the men have collected the last four titles.

Colorado State’s men snuck into the No. 2 spot in the MW Pre-Championship poll, earning 42-points and two first-place votes, while Air Force managed one first-place vote even though they were ranked No. 4 with 34-points. Air Force’s women earned the No. 3 spot, while Colorado State’s women rank No. 4.

The 2013 MW Cross Country Championships will be hosted by the Air Force Academy at the Eisenhower Blue Course, Friday, Nov. 1. The men’s 8-kilometer race begins at 10 a.m. MT, while the women’s 6-kilometer race is scheduled for a 10:45 a.m. MT start.
