Men Picked Third, Women Picked Fourth in Pre-Championship Poll

The Western Athletic Conference cross country coaches have picked the Boise State men’s cross country team to finish third and the women to finish fourth in next weekend’s championship meet in Las Cruces, N.M. Utah State was picked as the favorites in both the men’s and women’s championships.

The Bronco men received 25 points in the poll, which tied them with Idaho for third-place. Utah State was picked as the favorite with 36 points and six first-place votes. Fresno State narrowly beat out Boise State and Idaho with 27 points in the poll. The Broncos were picked to finish in front of Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and San Jose State.

The Boise State women were picked to finish fourth in the championship with 40 points in the poll. The Broncos finished behind the favorites Utah State (60 points) as well as Nevada and the defending champions, Idaho. Fresno State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Hawaii and Louisiana Tech were picked behind the Broncos.

The WAC Championship will be run on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the New Mexico State Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
