Cross Country Finishes Regular Season Schedule at College of Idaho Coyote Twilight

CALDWELL, Idaho - Heading across the valley for their final regular season competition, the Boise State cross country team competed in the College of Idaho Coyote Twilight meet on Thursday evening. The meet was a chance for many Broncos who hadn't competed in recent meets to run in one final regular season race before the Western Athletic Conference Championships held on Oct. 31.

The Bronco women raced to a third place finish while the men captured a fourth place finish in at the Fairview Golf Course in Caldwell.

The women earned 78 points to place third behind the College of Idaho (24 points) and Eastern Oregon (31 points) with Breanne Whitlock leading the way with a 16th place finish. Whitlock clocked a time of 18 minutes, 42.00 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. 

Finishing in the second and third spots for the Broncos were Kacie Bitzenberg and Chelsea Herren, placing 20th and 21st overall. Bitzenburg crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 18.70 seconds while Herren ran a time of 19 minutes, 23.70 seconds. Lacie Wheeler Anderson was the next finisher for the Bronco women, placing 23rd in a time of 19 minutes, 32.40 seconds while Ariel Hopewell rounded out the Bronco scorers with a 27th place finish (20:30.80). Jenny Geyer was the only other Bronco to compete, finishing in 36th with a time of 25 minutes, 53. 70 seconds.

On the men's side the team took fourth with 104 points, just one point behind third place finisher Treasure Valley Community College.  The College of Idaho scored 26 points while Eastern Oregon racked up 32 points to finish first and second, respectively, in the six team competition.

Boise State's Cameron Lockard led the team with a solid ninth place finish, clocking a time of 24 minutes, 49.80 seconds on the 8-kilometer course. Ethan Slight was the next Bronco to cross the line, running a time of 25 minutes, 52.20 seconds to place 25th. Matt Moyer finished close behind, with a 30th place finish and a time of 25 minutes, 59.80 seconds.

Cassidy Bigsby finished in 36th with a time of 26 minutes, 18.70 seconds while Dusty Klein finished in 42nd with a time of 26 minutes, 39.40 seconds to round out the Broncos' competitors and point scorers.

Eastern Oregon's Karlee Coffey earned the women's individual title, running a time of 16 minutes, 56.60 seconds, winning by over 50 seconds. On the men's side the College of Idaho's Greg Montgomery captured the win, breaking the tape in 23 minutes, 55.70 seconds.

The Broncos conclude their regular season schedule with the Coyote Twilight. Next on their schedule will be the 2009 WAC Championships in Reno, Nev., on Saturday, Oct. 31.
