COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Boise State's Emma Bates was named Mountain West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday, for meets contested Oct. 17-18.

Bates, the nine-time All American, earned her third weekly honor of the season after her sixth-place finish at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 17. The Elk River, Minn., native finished the 6-kilometer course in 19:47. Bates' sixth-place finish helped the Broncos finish 17th at the sixth-annual Wisconsin adidas Invitational.

Redshirt seniors Bates and Marisa Howard's top-20 performances helped the Broncos to a 17th-place finish out of a 40-team field. 22 of the 40 teams at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational were nationally ranked. The final regular-season coaches' poll ranks the Boise State women 23rd in the nation.

This is the fifth MW Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor for Bates.

Up next for the Broncos is the Mountain West Championships, hosted by Fresno State on Oct. 31. Bates is the reigning 6-kilometer conference champion, finishing the course in 20:48.15.
