Boise State Cross Country Heads to Coyote Invitational

What's Happening
The Boise State Cross Country team returns to the valley for their final regular season meet of 2010. The team will head to Caldwell, Idaho, to participate in the College of Idaho Coyote Invitational on Thurs, Oct. 21 at Fairview Golf Course.

Race Information
The Coyote Invitational is slated to begin at 5 p.m. (Mountain) with the women's 5-kilometer race, followed by a 5:45 p.m. start for the men's 8-kilometer race. The race will be held at Fairview Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho, located at Logan and 10th Ave in downtown Caldwell.

Teams Competing
Five valley area teams will be competing in the meet, including Boise State, Northwest Nazarene, Eastern Oregon, College of Idaho and Treasure Valley Community College. The Bronco men rank No. 14 in the USATFCCCA Division I West Region rankings this week, while NNU men's team ranks No. 25 in the USATFCCCA Division I National rankings. College of Idaho men and Eastern Oregon men rank No. 9 and No. 17, respectively in the NAIA National rankings, while the C of I women rank No. 7 and EOU women at No. 15, respectively.

A Look at Boise State
Broncos in the Rankings: The Boise State men's team up one spot on the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I West Region polls, now holding the No. 14 spot in the west. The Bronco women are not ranked in the West Region's top-15.

Bronco Honors: After only two weekends of competition, the Broncos have racked up three WAC Athlete of the Week honors. Freshman Emma Bates leads the team with two WAC AOW honors after earning her second award on Tuesday (Sept. 28). Freshman Drew O'donoghue-McDonald joined Bates after their first week of competition by sweeping the WAC weekly honor on Sept. 14. Jeff Howard was the newest addition to the WAC weekly honors group, earning WAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 13-19.

About the Broncos: The Broncos' roster includes 12 men and 37 women on the 2010 roster. This total includes four newcomers to the men's side and 21 to the women's. Both the men's and women's teams have four seniors apiece.

Meets Remaining: The Coyote Invitational is the final regular season meet on the Broncos' 2010 schedule, however the bulk of their competition will come in the following weeks, beginning with the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Championships. The WAC meet will be held in Moscow, Idaho on Sat., Oct. 30 with the women running a 6K and the men running an 8K. On Nov. 13, those who qualify will head to Springfield, Ore., to participate in the 2010 NCAA West Region Championships, while the NCAA National Championships are slated for Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind. Both NCAA meets will cover the 6K distance for the women and a 10K distance for the men.
