Another MW Honor for Peloquin
Oct. 18, 2016

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Brenna Peloquin received another weekly honor on Tuesday as the conference announced that she was named the Mountain West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her victory at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 14. She was named the USTFCCCA Division I Women’s Athlete of the Week yesterday, becoming the only Bronco in school history to garner the prestigious USTFCCCA weekly honor twice over the course of a collegiate career.

The conference honor is also her second of the season, as she was named the recipient on Sept. 27 after winning the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. Peloquin is currently the No. 1-ranked women’s runner according to FloTrack’s Saucony Flo50 Rankings.

The sophomore clocked a time of 20:00.8 on the 6-kilometer course at the Nuttycombe, taking down New Mexico’s Alice Wright (20:01.9) and Notre Dame’s Anna Rohrer (20:03.4) in the last 400 meters to secure her second cross country victory of her collegiate career.

Peloquin spent the majority of the race amongst the leaders in the top five, but she made sure to also have a runner or two in front of and beside her to combat what was an extremely windy day. The Gig Harbor Wash., native made a solid move with roughly 1,000 meters to go, and eventually had to turn on the jets one more time to drop Wright and Rohrer.

Peloquin’s victory last week means that the Broncos have the last two Wisconsin Invitational women’s individual champions with Allie Ostrander capturing the title in 2015. Boise State is the only school to have two different back-to-back winners in the meet’s history.

Boise State will compete again when they host the Mountain West Cross Country Championships in Kuna, Idaho at Falcon Crest Golf Club on Friday, Oct. 28. The women’s race will go off at 10 a.m. (MT) and the men will follow at 10:45 a.m. Admission and parking are both free.
