Women Ranked No. 8 by USTFCCCA
Oct. 17, 2017

NEW ORLEANS – Following a stellar team finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, the Boise State women’s cross country team moved five spots up to No. 8 in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches’ Poll (Oct. 17).

The No. 8 ranking is the second-highest ranking in program history. The women began last season at No. 6 nationally – a ranking the held until dropping to ninth in the Sept. 27 poll. Boise State also reached No. 6 nationally on the Oct. 6, 2015 poll, before finishing the season in eighth.

The team is now the second-highest ranked team in the Mountain West, giving the conference three top 15 programs.

Despite entering last week’s last race in Wisconsin as the seventh-highest ranked team, Boise State ran as a pack to place fourth (233 points) in a highly competitive field of 14 ranked teams. Allie Ostrander ran to a ninth-place finish, while all of Boise State’s scorers finished within the same 56-second spread.

The Broncos also moved up five spots in the West Region rankings to No. 3.

Boise State men’s cross country received four points in this week’s poll.

The Broncos are off this week, but will return to action at the Mountain West Championships, Oct. 27. The meet will be held in Albuquerque, N.M.
