Broncos Back in Action at Santa Clara Invite

What's Happening
The Boise State Cross Country team returns to action after a two-week hiatus from competition. The Broncos head to Santa Clara, Calif., to compete in the 2010 Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Sat., Oct. 16. The meet includes 31 teams from seven states and will be held at Baylands Park in Santa Clara, Calif.

Race Information
The Bronco Invitational will begin with a Women's Invitational at 9 am and be followed by the Women's Open at 9:45 pm.  The Men's Invitational will begin at 10:30 am with the Men's Open following at 11 am. The event is free to the public.

Teams Competing
The list of teams running in the invitational races include: Academy of Art, Boise State, Cal,  Chico State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho State, Lamar, Long Beach State, Nevada, New Mexico, Northwest Nazarene, Pepperdine, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Jose State, San Francisco State, Stanford, UC Davis, UCLA, UNLV, USF and Santa Clara.

Boise State (M/W), Fresno State (M/W), Hawaii (W), Nevada (W) and San Jose State (M/W) are five of the nine WAC schools competing at this meet.

A Look at Boise State
Broncos in the Rankings: The Boise State men's team moved back one spot on the Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I West Region polls, now holding the No. 15 spot in the west. The Bronco women are not ranked in the West Region's top-15.

Bronco Honors: After only two weekends of competition, the Broncos have racked up three WAC Athlete of the Week honors. Freshman Emma Bates leads the team with two WAC AOW honors after earning her second award on Tuesday (Sept. 28). Freshman Drew O'donoghue-McDonald joined Bates after their first week of competition by sweeping the WAC weekly honor on Sept. 14.

About the Broncos: The Broncos' roster includes 12 men and 37 women on the 2010 roster. This total includes four newcomers to the men's side and 21 to the women's. Both the men's and women's teams have four seniors apiece.

Broncos Making the Trip: For the men: Brad Bogdan, Scott Foley, Kevin Higgs, Jeff Howard, Drew O'donohue-McDonald, Brian Pierre and Allan Schroeder will compete this weekend. For the women: Emma Bates, Sarah Bisterfeldt, Alyssa Boucher, Carly Gerard, Lauren Lucas, Erin McLaughlin and Tessa Murray will make up the seven-person team.
