Cross Country Heads to Santa Clara Bronco Invitational

► What's Happening - The Boise State cross country teams head to Santa Clara, Calif., to participate in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. The meet will be the fourth for the Boise State Broncos and is just two meets away from the Western Athletic Championships.

► Meet Specifics - The Santa Clara Bronco Invitational is hosted by Santa Clara University. The meet will be held at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif., about 10 miles north of Santa Clara University. The meet consists of four races, an open and individual race for the men and the women each.  

The meet schedule is as follows (Pacific Time):
9:00 a.m. - Women's 5K Open
9:45 a.m. - Women's 5K Invitational
10:30 a.m. - Men's 8K Open
11:15 a.m. - Men's 8K Invitational

► A Look Back - The Broncos have now competed in three meets this season with the men placing first in two meets and second in the third while the women have placed second, third and seventh. Shannon Porter has led the women in all three races, snagging a first place finish at the Roger Curran. The Bronco men have been led by Sawyer Bosch in the last two races while Kevin Higgs was the top finisher at the Roger Curran Invite.

Looking at Boise State...
► In General - The Broncos are prepping for their fourth of five regular season meets in 2009. The team also has a guaranteed trip to the WAC Championships in Reno, Nev., and could potentially go on to compete in the NCAA West Region Championships as well as the NCAA National Championships.

► Athletes of the Week- Junior Sawyer Bosch earned his second consecutive WAC Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday, Oct. 6 after placing third out of 198 runners at the Charles Bowles Invitational. The honor was the third Athlete of the Week honor for the men's team while the women have also won two this season.
