Broncos Place Second at Coyote Twilight

CALDWELL, Idaho - Boise State's cross country team took to the course Friday evening (Oct. 7) competing at the Coyote Twilight meet held at the College of Idaho Campus Course. The Bronco men and women raced to second-place finishes, placing just behind host College of Idaho in both races.

Leading the Bronco men was freshman Aaron Back who covered the 8-kilometer course in 25:50.60, good for a sixth-place finish. Back led a sixth through 10 th-place sweep by the Broncos, earning their team's 40-points. Fellow freshmen Kyle Merritt and Sean McDonald placed seventh and eighth with times of 25:52.90 and 26:02.00, respectively, while Andrew Booth placed ninth in a time of 26:04.10. Greg Marschik rounded out the scorers for Boise State, placing 10th in a time of 26:05.50. Boise State's final runner, Joe McFadden, placed 32nd in a time of 28:40.70.

On the women's side, sophomore Sarah Bisterfeldt led the way on the 5-kilometer course, clocking a time of 19:01.20 to place sixth. Rici Morrill finished just behind in seventh (19:07.80), while Anna Preciado finished in ninth-place (19:09.60). Lauren Lucas crossed the finish line in 13 th-place (19:23.60), while Jamie Knapp placed 14th (19:24.10) to round out the scorers. Cara Strodel raced to an 18th-place finish (19:49.30), while Marissa Opatz rounded out the roster with a 21st-place finish (19:55.70).

The Bronco men earned 40-points on the day, just six behind the winning Coyotes. Northwest Nazarene placed third in the men's competition with 48-points, while Westminster placed fourth with 97-points.

Boise State's women garnered 42-points, falling by 20-points to College of Idaho who won with 22-points.

The Broncos round up their 2011 Treasure Valley races with the Coyote Twilight. They hit the road next week, traveling to Santa Clara, Calif., to compete at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15.
