Boise State Cross Country Places Third at Charles Bowles Invitational
SALEM, Ore. While it was overcast and raining on the course, the sun was shining on the Boise State cross country team as both the men’s and women’s team earned third place finishes at the 34th Annual Charles Bowles Invitational, Saturday.

Leading the way for the Boise State men’s team was sophomore Sawyer Bosch as he cruised his way to a third place finish after clocking a time of 24:41.52 in the men’s 8k run. The next Bronco to complete the race was sophomore Brian Pierre as he crossed the finish line at the 24:58.77 mark to place 10th, followed by teammate Kevin Higgs who finished 34th with a time of 25:54.96. Also competing for the Broncos was Scott Foley who took 46th after recording a time of 26:08.43. Cassidy Bigsby rounded out the Bronco scorers as he finished the race in 47th after clocking a 26:10.15 in the event.

During the women’s 5k, it was Boise State’s Breanna Sande who was the top finisher for the Broncos as she placed eighth with a time of 18:15.26. It was Karleigh Gempler who was the second bronco to finish as she took 13th after crossing the line at the 18:30.53 mark. Carly Gerard was the next Bronco to finish as she clocked a time of 18:35.92 to finish 18th, beating out teammate Pamila Ward who finished 21st with a time of 18:43.96. Rounding out the Bronco scorers for the women was Kayleen McDowell who clocked a 18:44.79 to place 23rd.

The Broncos take a week to rest up before traveling to California to compete at the Santa Clara Invitational, Oct. 18.
