MW Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
– Brenna Peloquin’s successful week continued Tuesday afternoon as the conference announced that she was named the Mountain West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24 in Minneapolis, Minn. She won the USTFCCCA Division I Women’s Athlete of the Week yesterday, becoming the third Bronco in the program history to garner the prestigious honor.

The Gig Harbor, Wash., native clocked a time of 20:50 on the 6-kilometer course, securing an 11-second victory over Michigan’s Erin Finn (21:01). Peloquin worked her past Finn – the defending Big Ten Cross Country Champion – in the last half of the race, and eventually opened up a substantial lead in the last kilometer.

The sophomore led the way for the Broncos who finished in fourth place as a team with 155 points. The individual victory was the first of her collegiate cross country career.

The USTFCCCA also released their week three national rankings today, with both the men and women dropping slightly. The men are No. 17 after being ranked No. 14 last week, and the women are No. 9 after being slotted at No. 6.

The team will compete again on Oct. 7 at the Steve T. Reeder Memorial in Logan, Utah.
