WHAT’S HAPPENING – The Boise State men’s and women’s cross country teams head to the 29th annual Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.

MEET SPECIFICS – The Boise State men will race in the Merrill Fischbein Gold (Division I) competition 11:20 a.m. MT in an 8-kilometer course. The 20th-ranked Bronco women will race at 12:10 p.m. MT in the Jack Johnson Gold (Division I) 6-kilometer course. The invitational features 11 races throughout the day in the college/university, high school and children’s divisions.

THE COMPETITION – The Bronco men will race against 30 teams, including No. 19 North Carolina, No. 24 Texas and No. 27 Iowa State. The 20th-ranked Bronco women will square off against 35 squads, including No. 3 Michigan State, No. 9 Iowa State and No. 11 Butler.

RACING BRONCOS – The men’s side will feature Aaron Back, David Elliott, Melika Ghali, Louis McAfee, Keegan McCormick, Rhys Park, Andrew Rafla and Michael Vennard. The women’s side will feature Emma Bates, Anne Brinegar, Charlotte Corless, Sarah Hastings, Anna Holdiman, Marisa Howard, Emma Hyyppä, Tessa Murray and Grace Tostenson.

MEET HISTORY – 2014 marks the fourth time Boise State has competed at the Roy Griak Invitational. The Broncos first competed in 2010, and returned to the invite in 2011 and 2012. The Broncos had their best team finishes in 2012, where the men placed fifth and the women placed seventh. Jeff Howard holds the best finish on the men’s side, with his 16th-place performance in 2010. Marisa Howard holds the best finish for a Bronco at the Griak on the women’s side, finishing 20th in 2012.

WEEKLY RANKINGS – The Bronco women landed on the weekly USTFCCCA national rankings for the third time in school history. The women’s program ranked No. 19 (Sept. 16), its highest ranking in school history. This week the women landed No. 20 in the weekly poll. In the 2014 USTFCCCA weekly regional rankings, Boise State’s women rank No. 4 while the men rank No. 9 on the second week of weekly rankings the West region. In the Mountain West Preseason Coaches’ Poll the women were picked second, while the men were chosen to tie for third in the conference.
