Boise State Cross Country Set to Race at Bob Firman Invitational

► What's Happening - The Boise State cross country team is set to compete in their second race of the season at the Bob Firman Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26. The meet will be held at Eagle Island State Park in Eagle, Idaho. The Broncos will race in their second meet of three held in the Treasure Valley. Their first meet in the valley was the NNU Roger Curran Invite on Sept. 18 and their final valley race will be on Oct. 22 at the College of Idaho.

► Meet Specifics - The Bob Firman Invitational kicks-off with the Collegiate Men's 8-Kilometer race at 8:50 a.m. The Collegiate Women's 5-Kilometer race begins just after the men; slated for 9:25 a.m. High school races will follow the collegiate competitions.

Including Boise State, seven collegiate teams are entered for the competition. The field includes men and women from College of Idaho, Idaho State, Northwest Nazarene, BYU, Utah and Central Washington.

► A Look Back - The Bronco men captured the men's title with 35 points while the women finished in third place as a team behind BYU and Idaho State. The top men's finisher for Boise State was Brian Pierre who won the men's race and for the women, Kendra Hernandez who placed 21st.

Looking at Boise State...
► In General - The Broncos have one meet under their belts with the men's team winning the NNU Roger Curran Invite and the women placing second. Boise State's Kevin Higgs and Shannon Porter were the individual race winners. Boise State has four meets remaining (after the Bob Firman Invite) this season that they are guaranteed to run in, plus the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Nationals if they have qualifiers.

► Athletes of the Week- Higgs and Porter were named the WAC Athletes of the Week for men's and women's cross country last week (Sept. 14) after winning the NNU Roger Curran Invite. Higgs was also named the Boise State Bronco Athlete of the Week (Sept. 14), an award that is given to one Bronco out of all sports that competed that week.

Looking at The Competition...
► Opponents - The Broncos have already raced against NNU and College of Idaho this season, with the men defeating both opponents at the Roger Curran Invite and the women dropping to the College of Idaho but defeating NNU.

The Bob Firman Invitational will be the first meeting between the Broncos and Idaho State, BYU, Utah and Central Washington.
