RANKINGS:  The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) preseason rankings tabbed the Boise State women's team No. 20 and the men's team received votes, but was outside of the top 30.

Regionally, the women were selected No. 4 in the West Region and the men earned a No. 8 ranking.

Both the Bronco men's and women's teams were picked to finish in second place in the Mountain West Conference. New Mexico was picked to win the conference on both sides.

YOUNG BUNCH: Between the two meets, the Broncos have 27 total runners competing this weekend. Out of those 27 runners, 17 are sophomores and seven are freshmen. There will be just two juniors and one senior competing this opening weekend.

Michael Vennard and Sarah Hastings - who both received second team All-Mountain West honors last season - will be the two returning All-MW honorees competing at the Duel in Speedway Meadow and the Utah Open, respectively.

As for the freshmen, Jordan Jacob, Allie Ostrander, Brenna Peloquin, Katy Wood, Chandler Austin (Redshirt Freshman) and Addison Dehaven (Redshirt Freshman) will be suiting up in the Blue and Orange for the first time in San Francisco, and John Rodeheffer will toe the line in Utah.

UTAH OPEN EXPERIENCE: Last season Emma Bates and David Elliott won the individual titles, while the women's team won as a team and the men's squad tied for second. As for the returners, Rhys Park placed 12th, Louis McAfee finished 21st and Dan Oekerman took 25th on the men's side, and Sarah Hastings earned a fourth-place performance for the women.
