Broncos Begin Season at Utah Open

The Boise State men's and women's cross country teams begin their seasons Friday (Sept. 6) at the Utah Open in Murray, Utah.

► MEET SPECIFICS - The Utah Open will be held Sept. 6 at Murray Park (296 E. Murray Park Ave.) in Murray, Utah. The men's 6-kilometer race will begin at 3 p.m., while the women's 4-kilometer race is set for 3:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

► THE COMPETITION - The Broncos will take on BYU, Utah and Weber State in the four-team meet. The BYU men's team holds a No. 4 ranking in the national polls, while also ranking third in the Mountain Region. Weber State's men also rank in the Mountain Region, sitting at No. 9. Weber State's women rank 24th in the nation while also ranking third in the Mountain Region. They are followed by BYU's women at No. 7 and Utah at No. 9 in the region.

► RACING BRONCOS - Six men and eight women will compete for the Broncos this weekend, with the men being represented by seniors Jeff Howard, Drew O'donoghue-McDonald, Allan Schroeder and Zach Wiles, as well as juniors Aaron Back and David Elliott. On the women's side seniors Kate Jette, Lauren Lucas, Erin McLaughlin and Taryn Treadway are joined by redshirt juniors Emma Bates and Marisa Howard, as well as redshirt freshmen Shelby McIntyre and Shannon Susbauer.

► WEEKLY RANKINGS - In the 2013 USTFCCCA weekly regional rankings, Boise State's men rank No. 9 while the women rank No. 10 on the preseason lists. In the Mountain West Preseason Coaches' Poll the women were picked second, while the men were chosen to tie for third.
