XC Departs for Team Camp
Aug. 17, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State cross country team will open their season with the team's annual camp, Aug. 17-20, at YMCA Camp Horsethief Reservoir, in Cascade, Idaho. This will be the first training the team will do as an entire team with all returners and newcomers on campus.

"It's a chance for us to get everyone together again, start practice, get everyone away from Boise for a little bit and come together as a group," head coach Corey Ihmels said. "We've done it the past couple of years and it's been a great spot."

During the four-day camp, the team will run at a higher elevation than Boise, while also participating in team building and goal setting activities.

"Really it's about coming together as a group and realizing what lies ahead of us, what we want to get accomplished and what we need to do to get those things accomplished," Ihmels said. "It gives us a chance to really understand what lies ahead. I think if we can come away with an understanding of that and have a good time doing it, then we will have accomplished our goals."

The Broncos will open their season, Sept. 7, at the Oregon XC Preview in Eugene, Ore. The men's team return all seven runners from the team that ran at last year's NCAA Championships, while the women return six members from the team that placed seventh at last year's NCAA West Region.

"I'm excited about the group. I think we have a good blend of returners with some newcomers. I think both sides will have the potential to be really good," Ihmels said.
