Four Broncos Named USTFCCCA All-Academic

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named four Boise State student-athletes as 2014 USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees this week. David Elliott and Jeff Howard were recognized on the men's side, and Marisa Howard and Tessa Murray were recognized on the women's side.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. The student-athlete must have finished the regular indoor season ranked in the top-96 (individual events) or top-48 (collective listing), or qualified to compete in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships outdoors.

Elliott, a junior from Bellingham, Wash., competed in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA West Preliminaries. The rising senior is studying general business. Jeff Howard made his first-career appearance in the West Preliminaries and competed in the 10,000 meters. Howard graduated with a degree in K-12 Education and is pursuing his master's in athletic leadership.

Murray, a senior from Mount Vernon, Wash., competed in the 5,000 meters at the West Preliminaries and is pursuing a degree in marketing. Marisa Howard, a redshirt junior from Pasco, Wash., earned first-team All-America honors finishing as the national runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase. She is completing her degree in nursing.
