BOISE, Idaho--
Boise State’s Emma Bates and Andrew Rafla will compete in the 2015 USA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Boulder, Colo. Bates will compete in the Open Women’s 8K race (12:15 p.m.) while Rafla will run in the Junior Men’s 8K race (11:30 a.m.).

The annual race will be held this year at Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder, Colo. The top-six finishers in each race will book their tickets to represent Team USA at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang, China on March 28. The World Cross Country Championships are held every odd year.

Bates, a ten-time All American at Boise State, will compete in a strong women’s field. The Open Women’s race will feature two previous Team USA members, five top-10 finishers from the US Half Marathon Championships and numerous former cross country and track and field NCAA national champions.

Rafla headlines the junior race, as the Bronco rookie was the top American true freshman finisher at NCAA Cross Country Nationals this past November. He will compete against several top collegiate and high school distance runners, all in the 14-19 year age bracket.

The championships will be broadcast live on USATF.tv beginning at 10:55 a.m. (MT).
